All good things come to an end eventually.It was the most natural thing for this blog to die sometime.Probably the best thing i got all the years it was running was all the amazing people i met.And that is enough to make me so grateful.I want to thank everyone that was involved in it and helped in anyway.Everyone that commented or contributed.And i want to apologise sincerely to all the people that kept writing me emails for all this time promoting their music and i did not have a chance to preview here.A big thanks again to all of you.

Here at Plaidmusic we have been fans of Coyote almost since the beginning of this blog.In my opinion Coyote is one of the few music projects that is so true to their balearic leanings and stick to the purist side of this genre that has been abused in many ways by people who think that the ''b'' word can be sticked like a 'buy it'' logo next to so many things that are utterly worthless.

Their new album came as no surprise and is once again a great excursion to the white painted walls of the Mediterranean islands.Almost everything you love about 'balearic'' is here.Echoes of the Grid,The Beloved,Jose Padilla and endless sunsets are all here.I could go further and call this an ''afternoon'' record since i think it carries a really sunny and optimistic feeling all over it.Personal favourites here are Love,Keep Breathing,Our Time and Work of Art.

If you want a modern pop record that is real and to it's purpose and can talk to your heart this is a must have.Half Man Half Coyote comes out on June 2011 only in a limited 500 heavy vinyl pressing.

About a year ago one of my best friends passed away so suddenly.It's really hard to swallow the fact that someone that has gone is gone for good.That you won't share anything again with him.I was listening to a track yesterday and i was thinking it would be so nice if Petros was around and i could share the moment.I was talking about him with a friend last night and he told me that all he could remember from Petros was his almost continuous smile.He smiled a lot and loved life in his own special way.He had a charm that was hard to resist.He taught me so many things and i honestly owe this guy so much.It's good to share a thought for those that are gone.It's like having them here for a while.I knew Petros would love this track now as much as he did back then.Death is the most inevitable event in your life and probably the most hilarious.And whoever invented it is a sadistic humorous cunt.Anyway this one is for you pal.

It has been sometime now that i had been meaning to make a Japanese only mix.After the recent disaster that hit the country i thought to share this with you and use it an excuse ti share a thought for the victims and the ones that are left behind.I dedicate this mix to an anonymous girl i saw today on tv sobbing over a jacket that was the only thing left from her husband who got lost in the massive wave.Her loss brought me to tear.It was almost unbearable to think all the people that lost someone in this earthquake.All the people that lost their lives in this huge tidal wave.i just wanted in my way to pay homage to this wonderful country and it's people.I always admired them so much and now even more after seeing how they are dealing with this tragic event that brought so much destruction and death to their land.My deepest sympathy goes to Japan and all the people i know there especially Dr Rob.I just wish times heals the wounds and Japan will stand on it's feet again.

A lot of people complain that i make too many mixes and it's hard keeping up with them.Another complaint is that my mixes are too long.I think i will have to follow some advice regarding the first matter.As far as the second one is concerned i tried really hard making this as short as possible but i ended up with something more than an hour and a half.I think that when you use words to form a sentence if you omit some of the words the most probable scenario is that you are gonna be talking gibberish.Same here.I used all the songs i wanted to tell a little bittersweet story.About waking up in a freezing room with moisture forming little pools on the bathroom windows,your red eyes saying hi on the mirror,the lazy moves of your legs trying to fit in your pants,an intimate scent on your sheets,the taste of last night in your mouth,a missed call from mum,walking to New Cross station with your hands freezing in your pockets,lost in translation in high definition after a curry,a patch of broken tiles in my bathroom,falling,late night confessions from an old crash,the sound of rain,my empty fridge,nightbus rides to Streatham with ''I'',the Pale Fountains,antibiotics,New years day.This is rainy season.My new mix.Hope it goes straight to your heart.And i promise not to make a new one for the next few months.Cross my heart.

So if you thought this blog is feeling a bit dead lately well i can't really blame you.Posting tracks is not my favourite thing lately.At some point i felt that almost every thing out there is blogged or exposed in some way or another so it's really hard staying original after some point.So there comes a time when you got to stop and think,oh there is so much beautiful music out there to listen and enjoy instead of spending time trying to find what has been kept secret from the blogosphere.I mean sometimes i prefer relaxing and listening to a Mazzy Star record instead of digging amongst rare electronic records from Greek artists.This is a fine example of that kind of spirit by a really good friend of this blog and a real music aficionado,Dr Rob from Tokyo.Rob sent me this mix last year bit i never posted it because i thought it was a bit melancholic at the time.It turned out to be one my favourite mixes from Rob and a really personal as well.If i could i would prefer Rob doing the intro to his mix in the beautiful way he usually does.Anyway this is a selection of downer pop 7 inches mixed together on a half drunk night.Let your heart run free and enjoy this beautiful mix.

So,at last here is a chance for me to write something except posting just songs and being silent.This is a quite special occasion for what i believe is an exceptional case of new music is finally getting a proper release.For me the rather overlooked and impossible to get ''The Rose'' by The Laughing Light of Plenty was a glorious piece of ''baggy'' pop,the bastard child of Ian Brown and Shaun Ryder that sounded like a left out single from the New Fads with a new production.For me it still stands out as a rare case of real music in an ocean of releases of boring and unimaginative nu house,nu balearic,nu disco nu whatever and edits of songs that should never been messed with.After listening Flow Motion on Beats In Space show with guest Kenji Takimi was convinced that these guys are not joking around.Flow Motion is again captivating from the first listen and feels so familiar like listening to all your favourite records in one go.The album is shortly arriving so i would be prepared to order this as soon as posssible.The artwork alone is a reasonbuying if you not conveived by the music to invest in the best thing to be put on was lately.Follow the link below for good soundclips and a look at the art.

Meltemi is a strong northern wind that blows every August round the Aegean sea.Im back from the Aegean in a city that resembles an inferno.The meltemi winds didn't show up this year at our usual rendezvous.For me that's a bad sign.But maybe they are just a little late.Maybe something happened on the way.The nights this summer lacked this frisky coolness that made you wrap up in your sweater to look for cover.My field of dreams was a bit hotter this year but nevertheless every single holiday i spent in the Aegean is a reason to fill my cabinet of memories with even more unique moments.This is a mix i made before leaving for my holidays.It kept me good company during the small hours.My friends were complaining it's not dance mix and that it sent them to sleep.Maybe they were right.Since my camera broke down and i have no photos to post from my holidays maybe this mix is the best way to show you some images from those times.Even if it sends you to sleep im sure it will be a very sweet one full of surreal dreams about a lady dressed in blue calling you to join her in an aquatic kingdom where life is eternal.

Today marks the two year anniversary from the first time this blog became from just an overnight fantasy to a living thing.Within these two years the most important thing i gained through this site is a couple of good friends and many others that could prove good friends one day.Imagine i dropped a message in a bottle two years ago in the ocean and so many people red my message and got back.This is the real story.My message in bottle was found and i can't be any happier.I want to thank everyone who has contributed in any way to this site.I will name a few and i want to apologise from everyone i might omit in hastiness of writing.Mr Moonboots for promoting this blog in any way possible,David from Non Collective that proved out to be a good friend,Mr Vidal Benjamin who's knowledge and Romerian ethics could be of use for all my life,Dr Rob from Tokyo who's writings and mixes made the last year a different one,my friend Henri from Finland,Andrew Lovefingers for always being an inspiraton and quite helpful in many ways,our mysterious jet set friend Arthit from Thailand that always provides us with the most interesting comments,fellow blogger Peter Pleasure who is a super cool dude,Max Essa,Paul Byrne,Tommyboy,Dj Sergio,Jason Darrow from Robots in Heat,Guillame Galuz from Paris,Basso from the Growing Bin,Max and Jamie from Discohorror,Julian Horn,Diskoakademin,the wonderful Mr Tako,Jaz,everyone who has been sending their edits,music and love through our mail.I just want to add on this that i'm really sorry i dont get to post your stuff here but this blog is turning more into a mixes site and less of an edits and tracks blog.This is a change that happened along the way and from today you re going to witness even more changes to this blog to make it even better and good looking.Last but not least i want to thank my partner in crime Mr Vags that without his help and love this would not be where it is right now.Thanks for being there mate.The first post on this blog was a track by Mr Bobby Konders so i will just leave you with another one of his.Till next time.

I think that after some point this whole talk about what's balearic and not and the use of the word to describe things that are in the most kindest manner ''rubbish'' has to end.For me the word always meant quality music that can take you on an imaginary trip to the core of the beauty that lies in life in it's self.Life away from the stress and the grayness of the city.A call from mother nature to get back to the basics,the things that can make you happy in the most simple way,like the embrace of the sea and the caress of the sun on your skin.The light reflected on white houses under the midday sun and red flowers hanging from open windows.The smiles of the wrinkled faces of old islanders,the smell of iodium in the summer breeze as it hits your face you when the day starts to fade.

The morning light coming trough a half open window.The song of seabirds on a clear day.The endless humming of the sea as it hits the shore like two eternal lover's bodies colliding in a fanfare of genesis.For me this is what balearic means and a thousand things more that can't be listed in a blog post.I guess this piece of music can do the talking way better than my limited vocabulary.

For me Jah Wobble must be one of the most charismatic musicians to emerge from the post punk scene.A musician that blended so many different styles and never sound boring.I will post two tracks in a row by him just to show the diversity of his work.Last week my friend David from Non Collective posted The Kiss by Joolz,one of Wobble's early productions and a leftfield balearic gem.Joolz were mainly a post punk outfit fronted by the emblematic Joolz Denby.In the hands of Wobble they produced a handful of early singles that were oozing with that dubby sound that Wobble brought to perfection of his later productions.

The second track im going to post is from his album Rising Over Bedlam which is one of my favourite records ever.Erzulie featuring world music legend Natascha Atlas on vocals is a carnival of ethic sounds with flamenco guitars wailing horns and a one of the best basslines i have ever heard in a song.I could go on forever about Wobble's music achievements but that would be just boring so just enjoy these two tracks by one the most diverse figures in the music world.

When talking about people like Loukas Sideras it's hard to be objective.The drummer of Aphrodite's Child apart from hammering his drum kit like Hepeahestus was an all round musician that produced an amazing album (One Day) ,that is hilariously good and expensive at the moment,made a killer disco album with his girl Sigma Fay and a prog cosmic monster of an album that is Ypsilon's Metro Music Man.The only info i got about his latest whereabouts is that he enjoys playing pool in a bar somewhere in the center of Athens in an area called Exarheia.If you are after an autograph from one of the gods try looking for him there.

After a nice break in London where i got to relax,contemplate on life's beauty,meet special friends,dance,laugh my heart out,walk across the river,buy records and breathe fresh air,i'm back to my homecity with renewed strengths but a feeling i might have left something back.Anyway the trick is to make your life better wherever you are so i just try to make the best of it here with all the problems that might be in the way.Spring is always a good time for change and wearing a smile.The promise of summer and spending days by the sea is close enough,the sun is starting to make it's presence more than obvious, so it's reason enough to start celebrating.

This picture was taken in some hotel i stayed last Decemeber while visiting the Highlands.Since the bible is not exactly my before sleep book of choice i settled with a copy of Altered States as my bedtime reading.The only thing in common between the two books is religion.I was always wondering if anyone bothers with reading the Bible in hotel rooms.Maybe next time i should have a look my self.This is some ''religious'' 80's pop courtesy of a band named ''Bible''.

Steve Jansen's short lived project with Richard Barbieri,called the Dolphin Brothers produced a great album of arty pop with a breezy feeling.Steve Jansen's voice was maybe even better than his blonde brother that fronted Japan and he looked really cool with sunglasses,even if there wasn't any sunshine around.

If you still haven't checked out this magazine here is a good chance to do it.For me the word porn takes does this magazine injustice.Let's just say it is an esthete's paradise of nudism.Real life girls photographed for real life people.Arousment for the brain with style.Some people find ''fashion porn'' a silly substitute of the real thing which lacks any kind of realism and tends to be as boring as hell not much unlike the over stylized cinematographic attempt by Tom Ford.Quite something like the sterility of a hospital room i guess. I find ''fashion porn' a silly term and think that if you would like to get ''dirty'' you can always check out the thousands of you porn imitations that are floating on the web.I guess i would never promote something like this here although it's something that could come hand y in other occasions.The bad thing about porn is the fact that it kind of destroys the cells responsible for imagination in your brain,in way that only watching tv for 24 hours in a roll can do.Here we are dealing with an attempt to create the same effect that Playboy magazine could have on people 30 years ago.By the way ,i was reading an article about the decline of the sometime legendary magazine because of the internet being the no1 supplier of soft or any other kind of porn.I really wish that 15 years from now i could have a pile of Jacques magazine's issues pilled in my room than a thousand files of of bad quality porn on my hard disk.Quite the same as collecting vinyl i guess.Well work for me.

In their early days The Beloved were maybe even better than their later and more popular productions.This video is proof enough for that.A classic song by any means.Like the bastard child of Cabaret Voltaire and Curiosity Killed The Cat this song blends industrial warfare with the esthetics of pop in way that makes most ''dance '' oriented'' acts jumped out of the baggy scene some years late sound at least naive.My fave is this album version which much rawer and tight than the 12'' version.Long Live John Marsh.

Watching this video this afternoon i couldn't help but feeling a bit sentimental.The song is a pure beauty it's self but i had never come across the video.The footage from New Brighton is breathtaking.I kept wondering how can a place i have never visited trigger so many feelings of nostalgia.Watching the cars drive in the dusk of this small seaside city near Liverpool and the city light fade in the horizon over the rooftops makes me feel a part of me is there.Upon visiting Brighton a few years ago i had this weird feeling again.To be honest Brighton felt like a scenery that existed only in some kind of a movie set rather than a real place.Neglected hotels on the beach,fish and chips with mashed peas the ghost of Phil Daniels and taking photographs on the peer.I keep wondering how it would be like to grow up in a place like this.I guess the real success of a work of art either this is a song,a video or a photograph is to vaguely travel you in a new imaginary world that exits only for a while.I can't help but thinking why is people find it so hard see that the real beauty of life lies in simple things like listening to a song like this one and daydream.I guess the answer is the same to the question why bands like It's Immaterial never made it big.Nevertheless ''Song'' is such a beautiful record.This band could sound so British and so international at the same time and i believe this is one of the reasons that made them so unique.I guess that international feeling is what makes the sound so balearic to my ears,sitting on the same self along with bands like The Blue Nile.

As far as i can see the lights are down,an out of season look about the town...an out of season look..

Who knows I may end up owning the whole street, or more likely sleeping under tree in the park opposite

I'd hope I have the sense to move back home, as lovely as today is, I‘d imagine the winter would be rather cold

I'd been told for years that the devil had the best tunes and that the devil lived down here whereas us country folk weren't worth the salt from the road
Ex pat magazine editors who choose to loose their temper on the easily persuaded northern town dwellers
And sure enough 99 percent of the people I meet have scant regard for entertaining me, it seems I'm too old too slow too quiet and just wrong
And I'm glad. In their cocaine fuelled electronic cabarets I'll be the man at the bar drinking overpriced whiskey from a bar maid who's to good to catch my eye
She only works here two nights a week, the rest of the time she's a singer on a rock and roll band
I bet she'd change her tune if I told her my album had peaked at number 172 and that I also had friends who worked in bars and that didn't define who they are
Though it certainly helps their capacity to drink.

But I've stayed off the subject
Now I'll be leaning over and waking you up, and you'll squint at me through the cracks between your eyelids, woozy with cider
As if you're asking exactly where we are and exactly what I wanted.
